Evaluation Activity 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The character Aran portrays (the contract killer/hitman/antagonist) is a key figure in the film opening. He could be compared to someone like Liam Neeson form Taken . This is because similarly to Aran's character, he doesn't say much and he lets his actions do the speaking, he only speaks when he needs to. He is also similar in terms of the role he has in the film, where Liam Neeson is the main character, Aran is who the storyline revolves around. However, they both differ in a few ways as well, where Liam Neeson is not that protective or concealed for his identity, Aran, in the film keeps his identity sealed. This is mainly due to both characters being involved in different genre films and different motives as well as intentions. However, as Aran's character is part of urban/action films, whereas Liam Neeson is known for American action films, this also has a huge influence on what and how both behave according to each other. This definitely divides the two in terms of props, costume, location etc. As Aran is shown as a guilty killer at the beginning, Liam Neeson is shown as a loyal body guard, this shows the differences.
